Book Writing

Write your book, with a partner beside you.

You want to be the one who writes it. You just don't want to do it alone, staring down a blank outline with no one to tell you whether chapter four is working. Our book writing program pairs you with a coach who helps you shape the idea, plan every chapter, and keep drafting until there's a finished manuscript with your fingerprints on every page.

What This Service Covers

This is coaching toward a finished manuscript, not a manuscript written for you

Book Writing is for authors, fiction or nonfiction, who have a book length idea and want to write it themselves, but know that a project this size goes better with structure, a second opinion, and someone checking in between chapters. Your coach helps you develop the idea, build a working outline, plan the book chapter by chapter, and think through research where it's needed; then stays with you through the actual drafting, reading what you write and helping you revise it into a complete manuscript.

It's worth being clear about how this differs from our other writing services. Ghostwriting is for when you'd rather someone else hold the pen entirely, drafting the manuscript for you from interviews and your ideas. Creative Writing is for shorter, standalone pieces that aren't a full book commitment. Book Writing sits between the two: you do the drafting, chapter by chapter, and we make sure you're never doing it without a plan or a second set of eyes.

How We Support You

Structure and feedback at every stage of the book

Idea Development

Before any outline, we work through what your book is actually about (the premise, the argument, the arc), so you're building on a concept that can sustain a full manuscript.

Research Support

For nonfiction, memoir and historical fiction alike, your coach helps identify what needs verifying or gathering before you draft, so you're not stopping mid chapter to chase down a fact.

Book Outline

A full outline mapping your book from beginning to end, built together and revised until the shape of the whole manuscript makes sense before chapter one is written.

Chapter Planning

The outline broken into a working chapter by chapter plan (what each chapter needs to accomplish), so you always know what you're writing toward when you sit down to draft.

Draft Coaching

You write each chapter; your coach reads it, gives developmental feedback on pacing, structure and clarity, and helps you find and hold your voice across the whole draft.

Collaborative Revision

Once a full draft exists, we work through it together: tightening loose sections, resolving inconsistencies, and revising toward a complete, coherent manuscript.

How It Works

From first idea to complete manuscript

  1. Initial Consultation

We talk through your idea, your goals and how much of the manuscript you want to write yourself, and confirm Book Writing, rather than ghostwriting or a shorter creative project, is the right fit.

  2. Idea & Research Session

We sharpen the concept together and flag any research your book will need, so the foundation is solid before outlining begins.

  3. Outline Development

A full book outline, drafted collaboratively and revised until you're confident it holds up across the whole manuscript.

  4. Chapter by Chapter Planning

The outline is broken down into a chapter plan, giving each chapter a clear purpose before you start writing it.

  5. Guided Drafting

You write; your coach reads what you send, chapter by chapter, with feedback on voice, pacing and structure to keep the draft moving forward.

  6. Revision & Completion

A collaborative revision pass across the finished draft, resolving loose threads and inconsistencies until the manuscript is complete.

How Coaching Works

You write. We keep the project on track.

Regular check ins, chapter feedback and a plan you can see the whole way through, so a project the size of a book never feels like it's disappearing into a drawer between drafting sessions. You stay the author of every sentence; we make sure the sentences add up to a finished book.

Questions, Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

Ghostwriting is for when you want someone else to draft the manuscript for you, from interviews and your ideas; you review it, but you don't write it. Book Writing is the opposite arrangement: you do the actual drafting, chapter by chapter, and your coach provides the outline, planning, feedback and revision support around that drafting. If you're not sure which fits, our initial consultation is built to help you decide.

No. Plenty of authors start with a rough premise, a few scenes, or a general subject they want to write about. Idea development is part of the process: we help you sharpen a loose concept into something that can carry a full length book before outlining begins.

Most of it. Book Writing is built around you drafting each chapter yourself, with structure and feedback from your coach: outlining, chapter planning, research support and revision guidance. If you'd rather someone else draft the manuscript in full, our Ghostwriting service is the better fit.

Yes. Your coach helps identify what needs verifying, sourcing or gathering before you draft a given chapter, so you're building on solid ground rather than reconstructing facts as you go.

That's a normal part of drafting a book, and it's exactly what the regular check ins are for. Your coach reads what you've written, helps diagnose what's not working (pacing, structure, a scene or argument that isn't landing) and helps you find your way back into the draft.

Yes, both. Fiction projects start from your characters, premise or plot, however developed it already is; nonfiction starts from your subject, expertise or argument. The outlining and chapter planning process is adapted to whichever you're writing.

It depends on the length and complexity of your book and how quickly you're able to draft between check ins, since this is your writing pace we're supporting, not a fixed production schedule. We'll talk through a realistic timeline during your initial consultation.

No. Feedback is developmental, not a rewrite. Your coach flags what's working and what isn't and explains why, but the sentences on the page stay yours. If you'd prefer someone else to draft the material directly, that's what our Ghostwriting service is for.
